Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an better serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to push for a decider.

He rescued four early-game break points in a close final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
