An individual who laced sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two young males both nine and ten years old.
The accused was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up fell ill at the location in July.
The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was held in detention prior to a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the court.
She said his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer program which he operated.
The man conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and children had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "This year his family member had concerns about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor stated items including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were found, and his family member alerted the law enforcement about his worries.
She explained the defendant proceeded to engage in the "sweet game" with six children that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that point," she added.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
Mrs Prior stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson notified the law enforcement again.
She stated the defendant then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
