Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
City officials said they were working "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.
An important political figure said the incident left him speechless and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
